Read Matthew 12:33-35
Whatever is stored up in our hearts is what comes out of our mouths. What are you storing up in your heart? Is it good or is it evil?
Of course none of us really have evil hearts. But what is it that we are allowing to come into our hearts. I have always believed that when it comes down to the moment of truth, you can always tell what kind of a person someone is. What we are storing up in our hearts now is what will come out in that moment.
Think about when you became a Christian. You believed in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, therefore you confessed with your mouth.
Romans 10:10
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
If the things of God is what is being stored up in your hearts, then the love of God should be pouring forth from your mouth as well. If someone is constantly negative, has abusive or coarse language, or just in general treats people with disgust, what do you think is being stored up in his/her heart.
To change your attitude, your language, your outlook on life, etc. it must begin with a change of heart. We must pray that God will fill our hearts up with love, he desires that we love him with all of our heart, and that we believe in him with all of our heart. That is where it all begins. Our attitude is guided by our heart
Proverbs 16:23
A wise man's heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction.
Everything we do is guided by our heart. Our passions. All of you married folks, I know that you love your spouse with your heart, therefore the words "I love you" are spoken, the gifts are given, the physical aspects of love are displayed towards one another. It all comes naturally from the love that is in your heart.
If we love God with all of our hearts how much more will his love flow from our mouths and in our actions and attitudes. We must hold on to the hope that God has given us, the treasures that await us in heaven.
Luke 12:34
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
We must read God's word and store it up in our hearts so that when the oppurtunity comes it will flow from our mouths. We must speak from our heart, love from our heart, serve with our hearts, and most importantly believe with all of our heart.
Romans 10:8
But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:
Dear Lord fill our hearts with conviction of who you are. Heaven is the home that awaits us, and may that be where our heart is. Jesus is our Lord and Savior and may that be what our heart believes. May we Love from our hearts as you fill it up with your love so that it overflows into the lives of others. Give us the strength to speak from our hearts about who you are and all that you've done. In Jesus' Name. Let it be so.
Have a good weekend!
