A New Beginning

Well, the weekend is about halfway here. I hope that God is blessing everyone so far this week. Leslie and I are looking forward to this weekend, as we will be moving in to our new apartment. It's pretty exciting to be moving into a new place (well the actual moving part is no fun at all, but anyway). Leslie is excited about decorating the place, and I'm just excited to have more space again. It's something different from what you are used to, and it's almost like starting over again. Like a new beginning.

It makes me think about our relationship with God, and how he continually gives us new beginnings over and over again. Everytime we sin and we sincerely ask for forgiveness he wipes our slate clean and allows us to sort of start over again. God throws our sin to the bottom of the ocean floor. Unfortunately, the excitement of moving into a new house, apartment, buying something new, etc. eventually tends to wear off. And that also happens to us as Christians sometimes. We lose the passion we first had for God and it almost begins to seem dull. It's very easy to get stuck in a rut. Maybe it's time to look at God from a new perspective, maybe it's time to take time away from your busy life and get to know God a little more, redecorate, if you will, and renew that passion and excitement that you once had for him. Maybe you need to change the way you approach God, I mean, if we never change how can we ever grow anyway.

It's okay for the excitement of new possessions to wear off over time, but never let your love for God wear off without renewing it once again. It's time for a new beginning, a fresh start. Stay in the word, continue to pray, and remember to climb up on the altar everyday and offer yourself as living sacrifice to Him. How much more exciting could anything else be! Praise God!
