Sunday Morning Service

Wow. The Worship Service this morning was awesome. God's presence was surely felt. The singing was great, and Mike gave an incredible lesson on how "The Lord is near". A lot of people in our church family have been struck with some tragedies and sicknesses within their families. It truly affects The body of Christ when one part of the body is hurting. It is times like these that we, as believers need to really bear the burdens of our brothers and sisters, to help ease the pain. To let them know that "The Lord is near".

The sermon reminded me of a song that I really love, called "When God Ran". I believe that God does run to us. Especially when we hurt. Mike shared with us from scripture that God is nearest when we are broken and humbled by life's circumstances. We must choose to see Him, but it is so sad that many people choose to ignore him. I tend to see God clearer through troubling times, because when we are emptied and helpless we rely more on God to fill the void. I wish that we could see him clearly all the time.

Do you see God? Do you recognize his presence through the good times and even in the tragic times? I hope you do, and I hope that I always will.

Lord, bless us during times of loss with the strength that we need to carry on. May the families, such as the Winters and the Dills, be comforted by us, their brothers and sisters, that they may know that the love of Christ is surrounding them. May your name be glorified through this, and more souls brought to you, in the name of Jesus. Amen

The most diffucult time to remember God is when things are going good and we think we are in control. How quickly we turn to God when things go wrong. Hopefully Mike's lesson "The Lord Is Near" will help us better focus on the fact we need God all the time. This is a message that needs conveying often. We humans forget rather quickly.

Personally I make an attempt to focus on God and things he is trying to show me daily. My drive home from work daily, 30 minute trip, helps me unwind and find sanctuary with God on the week days. I try to notice and remember the beauty that God has created each day just for me. Most days I'm suprised by something I didn't take time to notice and enjoy before. I now realize that the gift God was giving me was being thrown away because I was not paying attention or I thought other things were more important.

One of life's lessons is "When you lose don't lose the lesson". With that in mind I have tried to pass on the lesson that I have learned to my Wednesday night youth class. That lesson is to focus on the same things in their daily life. The point is that I want myself and others to pause and see the wonder and beauty my wonderful God has given me. I want everyone to realize that God is truly an awesome and mighty God and we are so lucky to have such a loving father.

I have not been one of the unfortunate to lose a love one recently. I know that day will come soon enough. I also know as a fellow christian I need to encourage those who have lost love ones and let them know I am here and God is still a loving God.

God is in control! We must constantly remind ourselves of this fact!

God bless each of you and hopefully my ramblings will bring someone closer to God today!

Thanks for the comments Rick, I was definitely encouraged by that. It's so easy to forget that God is near sometimes. Sometimes we just need to God to give a big ol' slap in the face.
