I Can Almost Smell It!

Today is Friday...THANK GOODNESS! There is only 2 weeks which separate me from the beginning of Football season. High school football starts in two weeks (I am a huge fan of HS Football, Go Wave!) and the Ole Miss (Hoddy Toddy!) Rebels begin three weeks from Monday when they play (and hopefully destroy) the Memphis Tigers. West Point plays Noxubee County Aug. 26th, here in West Point.

For those of you reading this from West Point you already know how big high school football is in this town and the state(well, at least public school football, no offense, Oak Hill fans), and if you are not from West Point or the state of Mississippi, well...now you know (And if you don't believe me, follow the Sports Link on the Right side of my BLOG. Expectations are very high for West Point this year, which makes the anticipation of the upcoming season very, very high. They are dropping back down to class 4A after two years of competing in 5A in the toughest district in 5A, for that matter. They played well in 5A, making the post season both years, and almost beating the #9 nationally ranked team last year in the final regular season game. Without a doubt West Point is one of the favorites to represent the north in the State Championship game this year, and they have a very good chance of going undefeated. However, they do play another favorite in the season opener in Nox. County, so fans will not have to wait for the excitement to come later in the season. In fact West Point's district is very weak this year, so most of the excitement will come in their very tough non-district games, and the playoffs. We go to every game, and I can't wait! I Can Almost Smell It!

P.S. - I know this post is not a Spiritual topic, although there are many Spiritual lessons to be learned from sports, but from time to time I will be posting just some random stuff that I enjoy, and hopefully you will enjoy to. So if you are a huge football fan, let me know about your team, or how big football is in your state or your town. Although I do challenge you that no other state in the US has the quality of football that exists in Mississippi. Maybe that will stir something up.
