Beauty? Review

I went to my sister-in-laws beauty review on Monday, and can I emphasize enought how glad I am that she is a senior this year, which means this is her last one. Of course I went to support as any good brother-in-law would do but I would have much rather been at home watching my grass grow.

I just don't understand the point. I mean, I'm not one of those people who thinks it is evil or sinful to be in a beauty review, but I just don't like them. It's almost as if they are robots, because they certainly don't walk across the stage like a normal human being. Some of those girls looked like they were mentally challenged from trying so hard to concentrate on walking just right. There was one girl who tried so hard to walk straight and upright that she looked like a dog sniffing in the air to find her way around (I actually enjoyed her). Their smiles were so fake that it made me want to pull my hair out.

Oh, and did I mention that it was 2.5 hours long. I think they introduced the girls 40 times before the judges deliberated, and they just had to tell something about them every time. "And for the tenth time Here is so and so, and since we've already told you everything about them, we will just go ahead and say something else about them because how else would we fill up all the time these girls spend on stage."

The announcer, who is also "the voice of the Oak Hill Academy Raider Football team" was the emcee. And I can tell why he is the voice of the football team, because he sounded like he was announcing a football game. "And here comes contestant 500, she's at the 35, the 25, the 15, the 10, the 5, AND thank you contestant number 500" And he would always over emphasize random syllables in words, you know, like a sports commentator would do.

And the girl who won last year came strutting out on the stage to crown the new winner walking like she was going up hill. I promise, her back almost touched the floor while she was walking. That was good stuff.

So this was my fun evening of pleasing my family by sitting through a beauty review. Just ask Ryan F. how fun it was. I guess I shouldn't expect too much out of a high school beauty pageant, but it did make for a good blog (I hope). It did make it a little better that Ashlie made it into the top 10, and she did look really beautiful, and now maybe she will never read this and know just how thankful I am that she won't be in anymore (fingers crossed).

Have a great Wednesday, I'll see some of you at Bible Studay tonight. God Bless all of ya'
